Following the completion of my studies in Manchester, I found myself pursuing a career in Human Resourcers and Recruitment in a very unique and interesting field of Domestic placements. I work with the long established Little Ones London Nanny and Housekeeper agency. There is never a dull day at Little Ones.

Having a Nanny can be both stressful and relieving. Stressful because you have to trust your little ones with a stranger. A relief because a parent may find time for themselves and work, comforted in the knowledge their children are watched for and educated by a person cares for them deeply.

Choosing a nanny is difficult. One family’s perfect nanny is another’s nightmare.  A parent may find they have selected their perfect candidate only to have their offer rejected which is heart breaking.

I recommend when making your selection think of those things which are most important to you and your children – For me and other consultants at Little Ones, we choose a genuine love for children, care for nutrition, acute awareness of safety, commitment to their work.

Choose someone who is responsible, who knows how to and loves to cook. Who knows how to look after, keep your children safe and at the same time someone who is happy and can entertain them through different creative activities.

I also believe that all parents should place high importance on finding a Nanny who will be able to educate children. For example, by hiring a bilingual Nanny through Little Ones your child will have a chance to learn a second language without effort.

When is the best age to achieve this? When the children are from 0-3 years old. This period is called critical period and during this time your children can learn and acquire any other language almost as easily as their mother tongue because their brain at this age has the ability to absorb, acquire and learn a lot faster.

Furthermore, if your children are older than 3 years, they can still learn a second language by being taken care of by a Nanny. They will practice the language with a native speaker who will be with them every day, and will make learning fun and natural during the Nanny's working hours.

Little Ones actively promote learning a second language at this early age. We believe, along with experts this will be an amazing gift for a child’s future.  So why not hire a bilingual Nanny who can be both a carer and a tutor?

At Little Ones, we have 17 consultants who speak 9 languages, including Spanish, Italian, Greek, French, Russian, Arabic, Swedish, German and Mandarin. We recruit and place multilingual Nannies/Housekeepers and always ensure that the Nanny you hire has first aid knowledge, experience to look after different ages and child's behaviours, but also they have the ability to educate your children.
