Experiences with newborn nannies - customer stories-

From the moment when we are looking to get a new service, most people will check reviews and other people’s experiences before signing up for anything; parents are no exception. Many new parents will google, ask friends and experts if they should get maternity nanny, night nanny or a nanny to help them with their newborn. For those parents who are welcoming their first baby, the process of hiring someone to help them to look after their newborn isn’t easy, not knowing what to expect from a third person who is not member of the family. This is why reading about other people’s experiences will give you an idea of what to expect, what to ask, and what to accept for the childcare service.

Below you will find the experience of the Smith and Davis families. They used Little Ones service in the past and were more than happy to tell us what their experiences were with a maternity nurse and a nanny.

The Smiths

The Smiths are a family of three. When they contacted Little Ones, they were expecting a baby girl. The first time they contacted us, they told our specialist consultants that they had been searching on the internet and asking friends what the best option of childcare was for them, and they would have liked to have a professional opinion about what the best option of childcare was for them. The mother wanted some support the first weeks while she learned how to feed the baby, bed and bath routines.

Mrs Smith told us that the best decision they took was to hire a maternity nurse who stayed with her and her baby girl for 3 weeks. ”Knowing that every day a professional was coming to help made her feel more relaxed and secure. She confessed to us that the last weeks of pregnancy were extremely stressful for her and more because her family live in Europe, so she won’t have any support during the transition of having the baby with them.

She told us that Anna, the maternity nurse she hired through us was professional from the first interview until the last day with her family. Anna spent 3 weeks with us explaining every details to me, from how to put the baby to sleep to the little changes that I should take care of, she was an angel for me. Sometimes I was feeling overwhelmed about how to feed my baby, but she was calm and patient showing me the best techniques.

For a first mother, there are so many questions every day, questions that if you google them will give you thousands of answers, and some of those answers cannot be too positive, so having someone who had years of experience in the area like Anna, help me to calm down when I was feeling worried with all the information I was getting on the internet, she helped me to choose correctly and to find the best techniques that matched with my culture and believes.

I 100% recommend to any new parents to hire a maternity nurse. Having professional help the first weeks will make a huge different. When we contacted Little Ones we asked them to find someone who will fit with our culture and beliefs. What I will say to new parents is to start their search for childcare 2 months before their baby arrives, to have a list of requirements that the childcarer should have as a must and another list of requirements as a plus, and always to follow their gusts when they decide to hire someone.”

The Davises

The Davises are a family of 5. When they contacted us to use our service, they told us that they were expecting twins and already had one girl who was 3 years old. They were searching for an experienced nanny to help them with their children; someone with twins and baby experience was a must for them. They considered themselves an active family, who liked to spend their free time in nature. They usually travelled during school-holidays with other members of their family and friends, so having a nanny who felt comfortable traveling was important too.

Through the hiring process, they interviewed a total of 3 nannies, all with twin experience. They decided to go with Mary, who was still working with them at the time of this interview. They told us that Mary was a member of their family and a pleasure to work with; she had been with them for more than 2 years and hoped that she would stay for longer with them. Mrs Davis has started working part-time recently, so having someone who was with them from the first days of their twins gave her the confidence to go back to work, knowing that their children were going to be on good hands.

Mrs Davis told us that it is never easy going back to work when you have young children at home, that it is natural for mothers to feel scared about their children being with someone who is not part of the family, or someone who won’t follow their desires about how to raise their children. That’s why having Mary next to them in this transition has made everything much easier.

The family told us that the first weeks with the twins were a challenge. Having a 3 years old already at home demanding attention over the new babies was a bit difficult to handle, but having Mary’s help to make the transition made a big different. It is important to say that before Mary accepted the job, the family asked her if she would be ok helping during some evenings with the twins, so the mother would be able to spend quality time during the daytime with her daughter.

We asked The Daviss what advice they would give to parents who already have children and are expecting a new baby and are planning to hire a nanny. Mr and Mrs Davis told us that honesty needs to be a pillar of the relationship with their nanny; families sometimes make the mistake of only thinking from their own point of view. We need to remember that your nanny will also have good and bad days, they will spend most of their time with their family, so it’s important to make her feel comfortable and supported.

They also told us that they would recommend to any other family to hire a full-time nanny. Hiring a nanny will allow you to spend some time with your partner, which means that they will not only help you with your children, but it will also help you in your married, because this will give you the opportunity to spend quality time with your wife or husband, knowing that your children are in safe hands.

Where to get a Night Nurse or Maternity Nurse?

Finding the perfect night nurse or maternity nurse has never been easy. While directly recruiting candidates gives you flexibility and control, it can be a daunting task, as sifting through candidate applications will take up too much of your time. What’s even more stressful is that most of these applicants do not have the necessary qualifications that you are looking for. This is why most families decide to use a premium and experienced agency to do this for them.

Doing so could reassure you that the candidates that will be presented to you have undergone a strict and very thorough screening and vetting process, something that an online job site will not be able to offer you. After getting all the requirements you want in a night nurse, instead of putting forth a single candidate, a placement agency will instead provide you with a list of candidates that are suitable for your needs and preferred schedule as well. This way you can explore all your options to find the best childcare solution for your family.
